Looking for work?

Why not apply for this £29k job advertised in the Guardian.

You will have a high degree of political awareness to provide high quality support. It follows that you will need demonstrable ability to build relationships across professional boundaries, handle sensitive issues and obtain data from a range of sources. Experience working with high profile individuals in a pressurised environment will be essential. You will also need strong analytical, interpersonal and research skills and a sound grasp of standard office systems.

In return, we offer an attractive range of benefits including 30 days' annual leave, interest free season ticket and bicycle loan, final salary pension and incremental salary scheme.

Closing date for receipt of completed applications is noon, 18th July 2008.

Oh. What's the job? Researcher to the British National Party, alternatively you could be Barnbrooke's PA. Would that suit you?

I love that these things get advertised in the Guardian, even when they're for the BNP.

I sent a "Disgusted of Dollis Hill" email to the Readers' Editor (the Graun's ombudsman) yesterday and got a polite message today informing me that adverts aren't part of her remit. Tsk.

Those are GLA ads, I've just found out, rather than BNP ads. They were submitted by the GLA, and I think it might be illegal for the Guardian to refuse those ads on the grounds that its a legit political party.
