Take the London test

I don't know if I should tell you this. I took the Vote Match test for the London elections. However, in the interests of transparency, I think the public has a right to know. Before I say what happened and in fairness to me (if I'm not who will be?) it was a very close run thing.

Anyway, if I had a vote (which I don't, although I am campaigning) my top three candidates for Mayor (in order) are Ken Livingstone, Lindsey German and Sian Berry. I think Sian hasn't come on top mainly because I don't care about pigeons and said I thought the Mayor should appoint the police commissioner, which she disagrees with, apparently.

In the Assembly election it tells me that I should be voting Labour (ha bloody ha, thanks Vote Match), Left List and then Green Party. I guess this is no surprise as it uses the same data to calculate this as the Mayoral vote.

It does give me an opportunity though to spot where the test says Respect and the Left List differ on policy. Apparently Left List agrees we don't need any more sky scrapers - but Respect disagree, Respect think London City airport should remain open, the Left List are opposed to the Police Commissioner being appointed by the Mayor and are opposed to the GLA having any powers over local education. Bizarrely it also says that the Left List is for tax cuts... for some perhaps.

I'm going back to listening to Joy Division and telling myself that it's all a bit of "fun" really.

Left list was my top match, which surprised me slightly. Mind you, I don't live in London so I've not really got much idea of what the local issues are in this campaign.

I got Sian in what I suspect was a fluke as I put neither when I meant no opinion. Looking at the answers Sian has a lot of neithers so I imagine she's quite hard to get.

Left List, followed by Ken. Which you might expect really, her being the only communist standing.

Still wouldn't vote for them in a million years mind [/sectarian]

It makes you shudder to see that one of the questions is about whether or not 'mixed marriages' should be allowed between 'races'.

I had a similar experience, Left List just ahead of Sian, we diagreed over pigeons. I assume the q about mixed marriage was to identify BNP voters.

I DO have a vote, and I'm not going to cast it on that advice!

I voted pigeon, and Sian still came 3rd for me! Pigeons, teddy bears, where will it end?

I was told I agree most with Livingstone :=( In fact I support Left List.

But am seeing the local issues from a long distance so I may be out of touch :=(
