Cheer up Tories!

I saw this screen shot over at Richard Osley's blog the other day. Is it just me or does literally no one in the picture look happy to be there? Some of them look positively enraged.

The woman on the left looks like she's weeping in despair. I guess the Tories aren't feeling quite as confident of victory as they were a few months ago.

Cheer up - only nine weeks to go!

Ms Vere looks pretty pessimistic too, as well she might.

Jim,

Have the Greens decided what to do with the BBC's small party debate?

Will they attend if the BNP are there?

I believe (and I might be wrong about this) that there is going to be 'responses' to the TV debates from the BNP, UKIP and the Greens - but that these are going to be filmed seperately so we wont be debating each other...

At least that's the way I've read the proposals and certainly we'd push the organisers of the debates to do it this way if they weren't intending to.

Jim,

I am not asking the Greens to be kamikaze pilots, but it would serve the Greens well **if** they were invited, to take a principled stand and reject it, then release some coverage onto YouTube.

The onetime policy of not giving neofascists the oxygen of publicity has crumble, it would be good to see the Greens take a hard line on this, and they might pick up some of the antifascist vote!

Obviously I appreciate that political parties can't turn down national coverage or paint themselves into a corner, but it would be good to see one or 2 parties making a principled stand on this issue.

I don't think it will be necessary as we do get to dictate the terms somewhat, so as long as whoever does the negotiation does their job properly it will be seperate responses that don't refer to each other... we might be able to control whether it's in the same programme and we wont be able to stop the BNP airtime, but we can refuse to be in the same slot as them and UKIP (not least because the election is not about them for us)

Fair enough, if the Greens take that stance I'd be only too happy to say a decent word about them :)
