Copenhagen pointless?

Wednesday's edition of the Morning Star has an incredibly pessimistic article by me on the international climate talks in Copenhagen.

The gist of my thesis is; they are unlikely to broker a deal that is anywhere near enough; any commitments they do make they will break; we're fucked.

On Saturday there is a national demonstration (plus lots of feeder events) for action on climate change. Details here. Might be worth a try.

Yet another fine article. A Jim Jepps article plug on the front page is a sure way to get me buying the Morning Star (not today, didn't happen to go to a newsagent). Good work.

Hard to disagree with this assessment unfortunately.

Time to head for the hills and fund stockpiling of essentials by selling lots of low-lying land on the coast to some of the smug bastards convinced that the release of a few dodgy emails proves global warming is a hoax.

Jim, Jarvis Cocker summarises the problem you have identified in your M. Star article here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KB6qvvO_Oo4 (apologies if I've done this one before...I think I have)

Re plugging Saturday's demo - as well as "The Wave", which you link to, this is preceded by Campaign Against Climate Change's rally at Speakers Corner at noon, featuring Michael Meacher MP (Lab), Simon Hughes MP (Lib Dem), John McDonnell MP (Lab), Caroline Lucas MEP (Green) - see http://www.campaigncc.org/

I am strongly of the view that even as we realise the situation is virtually hopeless, that's all the more reason to get out on the streets.
