The pieces fall into place

I've just had one of those moments where news stories collide and the piecesof the jigsaw start falling into place.

The BBC estimates that there are 29,000 professional politicians in this country.

The Times writes this piece Organised crime groups one step ahead of police, which tells us there are "About 30,000 individuals in... criminal groups... [the police will] fight crime barons using what it calls the “Al Capone approach”. Even if gangs cannot be prosecuted for the most serious crimes, they can be pursued for other offences. "

What are those offences?

“If serious tax evasion is found, a tax investigation can lead to a criminal prosecution for violation of tax laws”.

Aaaahhhhhh I see it all now. But surely it can't be that all 29,000 are crooks? Better safe than sorry I suppose. Carry on officer.

ere, did you hear Rupert Read on the radio today? Thought he sounded excellent, really polished. Even if he could have said something with a bit more substance.
