Weekending: the British grit edition

I thought this piece by Daniel Davies in the Guardian was really excellent on how we should approach the threat of the BNP at the Euro elections. Let's not jump at shadows, particularly as they rather enjoy their undeserved Bogey Man status.

Giles Frasier thinks atheists should be barred from Though for the Day. I think we should all snowball him on sight - watch your back Frasier!

I recently came across a site called Urban Vegetables. No, no. It's not referring to the way people zone out when they wear their iPod thingies but rather it's a bespoke Vegetable patch design company. What will they think of next?

My favourite letter of the week comes in the wake of snow drifts that brought the country to a halt (some as high as ten inches high!) and illegal merrymaking when people should have been at their desks, counting paper clips. P J Davison from Richmond upon Thames writes in Saturday's Independent;
"Now the state of our nation can be summed up in two words: No Grit."
Neat, sweet and hard to beat.

And finally, this really excellent two minute video piece about Iranian bloggers is well worth watching.
