12 reasons why same sex marriage will ruin society

I don't normally cut and paste posts - but it's late and I think these observations from the US are cute (from)

12 reasons same-sex marriage will ruin society

1. Homosexuality is not natural, much like eyeglasses, polyester, and birth control are not natural.

2. Heterosexual marriages are valid because they produce children. Infertile couples and old people cannot get legally married because the world needs more children.

3. Obviously gay parents will raise gay children because straight parents only raise straight children.

4. Straight marriage will be less meaningful, since Britney Spears’s 55-hour just-for-fun marriage was meaningful.

5. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and it hasn’t changed at all: women are property, Blacks can’t marry Whites, and divorce is illegal.

6. Gay marriage should be decided by the people, not the courts, because the majority-elected legislatures, not courts, have historically protected the rights of minorities.

7. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are always imposed on the entire country. That’s why we only have one religion in America.

8. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people makes you tall.

9. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage license.

10. Children can never succeed without both male and female role models at home. That’s why single parents are forbidden to raise children.

11. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and we could never adapt to new social norms because we haven’t adapted to cars or longer lifespans.

12. Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because a “separate but equal” institution is always constitutional. Separate schools for African-Americans worked just as well as separate marriages will for gays & lesbians.

the thing I love about the hatin' end of Christianity, is just how much their hate seems to conveniently focus on supposed sexual misdeeds. I mean Westboro never picketing the funeral of someone for eating fish on the wrong day, or any of the other weird stuff that appears in that book.

They uphold that proud tradition of religious types being the most sex-obsessed section of the population

I just want to thank you for your IGNORANT views and how your remarks help to destroy the Christian image. I have a question for you, if you are a true Christian why are you not modeling Jesus and loving on the sinners and reaching out to them instead of this hypocritical, cowardly approach????

We are all sinners and if you read your Bible like a good Christian should WITHOUT PULLING THINGS OUT OF CONTEXT you would understand this!!!! The Bible does mention that homosexuality is wrong, but it also mentions the laws of God are for any sinners (just an example of scripture): 1Timothy 1:10 “These laws are for people who are immoral, for homosexuals and slave traders, for liars and oath breakers, and THOSE WHO DO ANYTHING ELSE THAT CONTRADICTS THE RIGHT TEACHING”. Just to clarify what that means is ALL SINS ARE EQUAL. You are not free of sin because on one person was and that his name was JESUS, so who are you to judge?????

I suggest you spend your time focusing on REAL issues in the world today instead of destroying what Jesus was sacrificed on the cross for. If you are unaware of productive things you could be focusing on here are some examples:

§ World-wide hunger issues
§ People being kidnapped or forced into human and labor trafficking (and yes this is happening even here in the United States)
§ An increasing AIDS epidemic in Africa and world-wide (and this is not just from homosexual acts, so please don’t be ignorant and play that card)
§ We are destroying the environment and all the living creatures (which if you are unaware you are one of the living creatures on this Earth)
§ Racism
§ Genocide, poverty, and inhumane treatment of others

I am a very strong Christian and participate in mission trips, outreach and ministries in my local community, environmentalist, and desire to be more like Jesus everyday. You did not see Jesus on a corner with a picket sign or slandering people behind their backs. He showed them love, mercy, and grace and because of how he treated them they were often convinced them to leave their current life of sin and give their life over to the Lord. Your ignorant statements are not helping anyone!!!. If you want to truly help others and label yourself as a Christian you need to: FIRST READ YOUR BIBLE AND FOCUS ON HOW JESUS OPERATED, SO YOU ARE NOT CONFUSED, hit the streets, get out of your comfort zone and love on and serve others!!!!!!

I hate to break it to you based on the Bible, but this behavior is not taken lightly in the Bible and is called hypocoristic (please read about it in your Bible). This behavior in the Bible is grounds for an eternity in HELL…..just so you are aware.

Oh, please spare us 'anonymous.' I know loving someone and not judging on whether it's the same sex or not and 'misinterpreting' the bible will send us to an eternity in hell.

People have been misinterpreting the bible since the begining of time. Don't act like a saint upon that subject, you've most likely done it yourself.

In my opinon(don't bash it now!) it doesn't matter who you love. I believe in a God who sees us as who we can be, but loves us as who we are. You obviously believe in a God who of hatrid and fake, horrid beliefs. Stop what you're doing, and think back to when they wanted to stop slavery, or racism. They are attempting to do the same now.

Don't post your opinion on something that's suppose to be fun and have a chuckle for us who have an ounce of a heart.

By the way, I hope they legalize gay marriage soon. :) My best friend wants to get married to his boyfriend of four years. I find it one of the most adorable things, ever.

On that note, all the more reason to vote Green on 4th June!

Sorry I can't find an online link for it but here's an article from Peter Tatchell.

In the run-up to the 4 June European elections, Britain’s two current
Green MEPs - Caroline Lucas (South-East England) and Jean Lambert
(London) - are backing calls for an end to the ban on same-sex
marriage in the UK and in other EU member states. They want EU-wide
same-sex marriage laws.

“The Green Party is the only British political party that opposes the
ban on same-sex civil marriage. We want marriage equality for LGBT
couples,” said Green Party leader and European election candidate for
south-east England, Caroline Lucas MEP.

“It is time same-sex marriage was agreed and recognised by all EU
member states. Lesbian and gay married couples should be able to move
freely around Europe and have their marriages recognised on exactly
the same basis as heterosexual married couples,” she added.

Her call for EU marriage equality is echoed by Peter Tatchell, gay
human rights campaigner, Green Party human rights spokesperson and the
Green parliamentary candidate for Oxford East.

“At the moment there is a confusing patchwork of different partnership
laws in different European countries, ranging from the PACS system in
France to civil partnerships in Britain and to full civil marriage in
countries like Spain and the Netherlands,” he said.

“The Greens believe it is time these laws were harmonised throughout
EU to the best and most universally recognised system of partnership
law, civil marriage. Anything less is second class and discrimination.

“Most EU countries do not recognise the different same-sex partnership
laws in other member states. For a majority of lesbian and gay couples
their legal rights stop at their own borders. This creates lots of
problems for same-sex partners who travel or move to other EU
countries,” noted Mr Tatchell.
