Former socialist MSP Tommy Sheridan has been detained in connection with a police inquiry into perjury allegations.
The claims surfaced following Mr Sheridan's libel case against the News of the World.
A spokesman for Lothian and Border Police confirmed a 43-year-old man had been detained in Edinburgh.
They said he was being interviewed in respect of an ongoing investigation into allegations of perjury.
