Is this a case of cognitive dissonance?

I'm not really sure what cognitive dissonance is - but I think Monday's Daily Star might be an example of it.

Girls aloud dressed as sexy school girls are "naughty but nice" and the continuing sensationalisation of the story about the abduction of a little girl no doubt for perverted purposes.

Urban Japanese culture was rife with this kind of stuff in the late 1990s and it is not something that is good for society.

I'm sure your observation would not even have occured to the editorial team at the Star.
