Hi,
Hope you enjoyed the job in the end - we choose such cumbersome systems for our internal elections.
Just to point out, the 'previous results' you link to were only the nominations. It gives the impression that Volker Heineman won International, and Pete Murray won Publications.
The winners for those posts were Joseph Healy and myself respectively.
Internal Communications was won by Keith Magnum.
Good call and well spotted. I've now taken that link off.
Here is the full list of successful GPEx candidates;

- Caroline Lucas
Local Party Coordinator
- Jon Lucas
International Coordinator
- Joseph Healy
Publications Coordinator
- Peter Sanderson

- Sarah Birch
Management Coordinator
- Pete McAskie and Tony Cooper (as job share)
Policy Development

Internal Communications
- Keith Magnum
Jim, will you be encouraging the reporting of this on the Socialist Unity blog, particularly Derek's re-election as a socialist?
Derek had to be re-elected as a socialist? I thought it was a self-defining club?
:)
Sorry, I'll stop making ridiculous pedantic points now and go back to work....
Matt
According to the Socialist Party of Great Britain, you have to pass an exam. :)
ecosocialism, there is a tree climbing cert as well...
Peter, the job wasn't too arduous - as long as you enjoy spending countless hours counting pieces of paper!
Anyway, I only have the referendum to go (Nov.) and then I'm free of my lofty ERO status and will be looking for some other useful role to play... suggestions?
How are you finding your new post in publications?
I don't know if SUblog will cover this (not my call) as they're interested in a recent set of expulsions from the SWP due to Respect's current rocky patch.
Anyway in terms of reading what the election means I think it's problematic as you have one electoralist, pro-leader elected and one anti-electoralist, anti-leader (I tried to think of the most neutral way of putting that but have probably offended both camps, tut)
I think it comes down to members thinking that those specific individuals are good at the job... the majority of members would not describe themselves as "ecosocialist" what ever that is - but they clearly see this as something they don't mind associating with.
I'm concerned at the turn-out - 20%. Why wasn't it 80%? You don't have to be a terribly active activist to vote. What's going on? Be interested in others observations on this.
