2007 personal highlights

A little while ago Disillusioned Kid tagged me with one of those meme Johnnies. "The seven best things you did in 2006" to be precise.

Unfortunately whilst 2006 wasn't exactly the worst year on record I got stuck on number four and couldn't think of anything worthwhile to put in the 5, 6 and 7 places (everyone else who's been tagged seems to have cheated to fill in the space, but that's not my style). So I've decided to subvert the thing and go for the seven best things that *will* happen to me in 2007.

1. Moving into the hippy commune (this coming Monday), turns out to be the best place I've ever lived.

2. In an uncharacteristic spurt of energy and self discipline I do rather well at actually getting paid to write things down.

3. My new job at the Friends Meeting House (interview this Monday) gives me lots of opportunities to meet more active people in Cambridge and helps me focus on number 2.

4. This blog goes from strength to strength (particularly after the coming redesign) and the year is topped off with an unexpected prize of Iain Dale's still beating heart (or the cash equivalent).

5. I see more of my sister and get to know her a bit better.

6. Whilst shopping in London I accidently bump into John Noakes and we become unlikely friends.

7. My Spanish comes on a treat and I finally learn how to tell a spontaneous joke to native Spanish speakers that actually makes them laugh.

I never pass these things on, but if it looks like your cup of tea, feel free to tag yourself.

Im still struggling to come up with good stuff ,(was tagged by Janine), as 2006 was joint worst year for me as you know. Think I might subvert as well and do what I want for 2007 :-)

Woooo... a comment less than a minute after I posted the entry! (stated time difference due to the fact it states when you started the post not when you published it)

I think I prefer my idea, because although I remained reasonably realistic, rather than taking huge leaps of fancy (which perhaps I should have done) it still doesn't expose how unexceptional 2006 was for me!

Here's to an excellent 2007

I really enjoyed reading this as I live near Cambridge too and have been to the Friends Meeting House many times. I would love to see your commune too, I wonder where it is. I'm so happy you have a lovely environment to live in with warm and friendly people. And although I know John Noakes of old, I'm not sure I would recognise him today.

Happy New Year, Jim Jay.

You know John Noakes! I'm rather in awe of that... must act natural, cough, hmmm, yes...

The hippy commune is actually the argyll street housing co-op link and I'm rather nervous about moving in next week!

Coincidentally I just linked to your lastest post on my reclaim the night post (see below) as it's well worth reading.

Well Jim, I hope to bump into Clive Owen or George Clooney or Salma Hayek (or all 3 would be very nice..)and become more "than just friends" while out shopping in Debenhams in Bromley South sometime 2007....

Can only dream.... :)

Good to see things are moving on up for you, Jim. A paid writing gig must be a very nice thing. Must try and seek out similar work ...

Happy new year comrades!

Perhaps - It is worth passing on my new years resolution which was not to have a foursome with the Sugababes.

Good luck with that piece of flesh! (And everything else...)

Hey Jim,
Sorry I missed you before I left Cam. I had hoped we could get another (less jetlagged) coffee together while I was around but I got inundated with relatives. C'est la vie.

Happy New Year and all that, and of course good luck for the move :)

Hello! I go to Jesus Lane Meeting House when uni terms in. Did you apply for the warden job? *curoius*

Active people... hmm. We have to get King's college to reinvest this term *mumble, mumble*...

Hello! I did indeed, and I got it (pending refs which should not be a problem.

I wonder if we've met?

I wonder? If we haven't we probably shall shortly. I'm a philosophy student at New Hall with very long hair. I haven't been to Cambridge meeting since the last one in November though, due to me migrating south for Christmas.

Many congratulations anyway.
