Friday 29th Reclaim the Streets Ipswich

This Friday (Dec. 29th) is the Ipswich Reclaim the night event.

"In memory of the five women recently murdered we ask people of all genders, sexualities, ages and races to march together against violence. To demand the right to walk the streets without fear. To share their thoughts, fears, hopes, dreams and love with each other. To show that united we will never be broken."

For those making their own way to Ipswich meet at the Townhall steps (on the Cornhill) at 7 p.m. For those coming from Cambridge take our coach which will leave Parkside (opposite the fire station) at 5.30 pm and return around 10.15pm (leaving Ipswich at 9 pm). Tickets cost £5.50, if you can email me in advance that would be super.

There is a poster here you can use to help advertise the event.

I think it's important that the community demonstrates its solidarity and shows that everyone's life is worth something. By attempting to help bring people together we can try to rebuild some sense of community and show the answer does not lie in cutting ourselves off from everyone else, but in bringing everyone together.

Hey Jim,

Do you know how far the meeting place for this demo is from the train station?

Not far at all.

Ten minutes walk maybe? It's a straight line with lots of sign posts as I remember.

Do check when the last train home is though as I seem to remember it being surprisingly early.

Who were they murdered by? Here in the US, Police Brutality is rampant, the most recent cases were a 90 year old woman whose house was broken into in a "no-knock" drug raid and a young man shot at 50 times hours before his wedding for no reason.
